My son and his girlfriend have a cat, so I have been warning them what cats will do to Christmas trees and ornaments.  I remember how my husband’s parents’ cat used to knock their Christmas trees over at least three times a season.

This video is hilarious too…

Thank Heavens Christmas comes but once a year! ~~dru~~

Shopping. I hate it. So it’s no wonder this is my least favourite time of year. And it’s prolonged by the fact that my kids were born in September, October and November, my best friend in January and my mother in February.

Don’t get me wrong – I love the giving part. I just can’t stand having to decide what everyone else might want. And then there’s that other dreaded question – what would I like for Christmas or my birthday? (Which is in January, the day before my best friend’s.) Um… let’s see… a car? A new house? Just pay off my bills? Oh, okay. Socks will do. (No, seriously. I always need socks. Maybe I subconsciously named this whole prompt “SoCS” in order to give people hints on what to buy me for Christmas.)

I always leave my Christmas shopping to the last minute. My excuse is I…

The Return of the Modern Philosopher

Santa Claus, Christmas, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Christmas songs, music, humor, Modern PhilosopherI saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus, underneath the mistletoe last night…

No, you didn’t, Modern Philosophers!

That’s the official word from Kissing Kris Kringle himself.

“Ho, ho, ho!”  Santa Claus laughed merrily via Skype.  “That’s what the Elves called me after that song became a hit.  I was a shameless ho for kissing all those Mommies.”

Even though things are incredibly busy at the North Pole, Santa found the time to chat to help quell the ugly rumors.

“It was all over social media today that Mrs. Claus had left me because I was an out of control ladies’ man who cheated on her every Christmas,” St. Nick explained sadly as he hung his head.  “Every decade or so, this rumor makes the rounds once that horrible song starts getting airplay.  This is the worst it’s ever been, though, now that everyone is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or whatever…

music can be………“translated into something for the eye.”
O’Keeffe was and is a goal for artists to pursue. ~~dru~~

Random Writings on the Bathroom Wall

blue-green

Blue and Green Music is a 1919 – 1921 painting by the American painter Georgia O’Keeffe.

Painted in her New York years upon the idea that music could be translated into something for the eye, Blue and Green Music is a work of rhythm, movement, color, depth, and form. It is also one of the paintings that was expressed by her feelings.

The painting uses colors that are both subtle and bold in order to capture the variance of tones that one would find in music. O’Keeffe described music as being able to be “translated into something for the eye.”  The painting is part of the Alfred Stieglitz collection, a gift by the artist to the museum in memory of her husband

Candle-oneTaper

What is the significance of the four Sundays of Advent?

“During each Sunday at church, a new Advent candle is lit. In the middle of the Advent wreath is a white candle, known as the Christ candle, that is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The purpose of celebrating Advent is to help churchgoers realize their yearning for God to join them in the form of Jesus Christ.”  source: Reference.com

“I prefer my advent days to be marked with a chocolate calendar”

Catz are asleep in baskets and blankets and soft places they can find by every heat source they can find except for my lap as I am far too restless to sit long enough for them to alight and cuddle.  Catz are happy; I’m happy, sad, mixed up, have heartburn, am nostalgic, and even perhaps a little self-satisfied because of, or at least some what, proud of my small accomplishments of today.

I’ve also had a Saturday Night Holiday Night Surfeit of Hall Mark Holiday Romantic (imbecilic but hypnotic) movies and need a strong dose of Beauty which walks the Night.

So here is my example of That Which Soothes The Savage Breast.   ~~dru~~

I, LIKE Tchaikovsky IS REPORTED TO HAVE SAID….agree “And WHAT is Wrong with Ballet Music?”.
