In an emergency or just even a very stressful situation, however in this case one that involves medical “stuff” and being in an emergency room; do you think the peripheral people; THOSE NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED AT THIS TIME, the family members…the ones that care…etc, should wait for the person who is dealing with the emergency to call them….OR….call the person who,( in my opinion based on experience is going out of their minds trying to cope) and then ask them “What’s happening?” OR “How’s it going?”
I vote that any call in a stressful situation without an answer to that problem makes that situation worse…AND I CITE; the last year I’ve been doing this intensely and the prior few years I was doing it too.
“HE” votes that it is entirely acceptable to bother the caregiver because why not? After all…INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.
I vote let me be for now and when I need you or want you or just have something to tell you; I’ll call…trust me!
The one or two that actually read this, I’m asking to weigh in…PLEASE!
I’m almost ready to consider I’m wrong but nothing makes an ER nurse , the one that has the very sore feet, angrier than you getting a call.
nothing makes a stressed out person more stressed than to have to find the phone, leave the stressor, ask forgiveness of those providers that probably have just shown up at this inopportune but exact moment; and then go outside to get a call from someone who says:
“So what’s happening?”
When I consider how my light is spent
Ere half my days in this dark world and wide,
And that one Talent which is death to hide
Lodged with me useless, though my soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, lest He returning chide,
“Doth God exact day-labour, light denied?”
I fondly ask. But Patience, to prevent
That murmur, soon replies, “God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own gifts. Who best
Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state
Is kingly: thousands at his bidding speed,
And post o’er land and ocean without rest;
They also serve who only stand and wait.
